5G networks to increase data security risk: Trade group

NEW DELHI: The risk of data security would exponentially rise following the commercial deployments of the fifth generation (5G) networks, and India’s Atmanirbhar (self reliance) initiative would facilitate homegrown companies to produce and supply fool-proof telecom equipment.

“Establishment of 5G network will generate humongous data and consequently the risk of data security bridge will also increase exponentially,” the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (Tepc) Thursday said, adding that the Make in India policy would also enable the domestic equipment makers to supply fool-proof and secured telecom equipment.
