Google Cloud builds strong India team, hires top executives
BENGALURU: Google Cloud has been a distant third to AWS and Microsoft Azure. It still is. But it has been making huge strides since Thomas Kurian, who was president of product development at Oracle, took over as Google Cloud CEO two years ago.
A big validation of that came from Google CEO Sundar Pichai last month when he said the cloud business would be broken up as a separate reporting segment.
Kurian’s success is seen to have been the result of aggressive investments in people and partnerships. That playbook is now being replicated in India. He has hired over half a dozen senior executives this year.
