Vodafone partners Parallel Wireless to deploy Open RAN-based 4G services in Ireland

NEW DELHI: U.S.-based Open RAN (O-RAN) company Parallel Wireless said Vodafone Ireland has become the first telecoms operator to roll out new 4G services across the North-West region in 30 locations using its O-RAN software.

In Ireland, the sites are being built on an O-RAN architecture with a Remote Radio Unit (RRU) provided by Comba Telecom, Distributed Unit (DU) by Parallel Wireless, and Central Unit (CU) software running on vBBU by Supermicro.
