Handset output catching up with FY20 levels: Companies
New Delhi: India’s mobile phone production this fiscal to March 2021 is set to come very close, if not match, last fiscal’s output of devices worth Rs 2.14 lakh crore, despite a 45-day shutdown in factories due to the pandemic with popular brands such as Xiaomi, Realme and Vivo ramping up production and hiring more personnel.
Handset manufacturing body India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), which was estimating a degrowth of 10-15% in manufacturing output, has now revised its forecast to catch up to FY20 production level due to the stellar sales of smartphones in the festive season.
