Apple A15 Bionic chipset may use TSMC’s N5P node: Report
The A14 Bionic is Apple’s latest chipset that powers the iPhone 12 models. While the iPhone 12 arrived in international markets some days back, rumours about the next Apple chip have already been set in motion. As per a report by The China Times, the next Apple chip — the A15 Bionic — will be manufactured using the N5P node by semiconductor maker TSMC. The N5P node is one of the three 5nm nodes currently under development by the Taiwan-based manufacturer, says the report. The A15 Bionic chip is set to power the iPhone 13 series of smartphones.
The report says that the new chips will undergo mass production by Q3 2021 and claims that Apple has already begun working on the same to prevent delays in the launch of the iPhone 13. The coronavirus pandemic delayed the launch of the iPhone 12 series. As per earlier reports, Apple has got the TSMC’s facilities booked for the production of the 5nm chips.
