Broadcasters restore pay cuts with revival in ad spends

Mumbai: TV broadcasters Star & Disney India, Zee Entertainment Enterprises and Viacom18 have decided to roll back the salary cuts they had implemented in April, following a pickup in economic activity that has resulted in a significant revival in ad spending — their primary source of revenue.

Zee and Viacom18 will pay salaries at pre-Covid levels starting this month, company insiders with direct knowledge of the matter said. India’s largest broadcaster, Star & Disney, had already ended “voluntary pay-cuts” at senior levels starting September.
