Indian Startup Association to ping US group resisting Google, Apple

BENGALURU: The Indian Startup Association, which was formed to protest Google Play Store’s move to charge 30% commission on in-app purchases of digital goods, is planning to reach out to the Coalition For App Fairness, a US-based organisation founded by 13 app publishers to take on Apple and Google’s duopoly in the United States, to understand how to structure itself, form its goals and strategy.

A technology startup founder, who is part of the 150-member Paytm-led association, said that although the US association was focussed on taking on Apple and their grouping has more issues with Google, the founder members have reached out to the US body to learn from their campaign against the big technology companies.
