Traders body blasts BCCI for retaining Vivo as main IPL sponsor
New Delhi: A retailers association, representing 7 lakh traders, has lambasted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for retaining the sponsorship rights of Chinese smartphone brand Vivo for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 to be held in Dubai in September, amid Indo-China border tensions.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said that BCCI’s decision “smacks” of “its lust for money” and questioned the urgency of the move when international mega sports events such as Olympics and WImbledon stand cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
