FB’s new AI-based tool will identify and act against accounts responsible for bullying & harassment
With more human interaction taking place online, there has been an uptick in the incidence of harassment and bullying on social networking platforms, Facebook being a case in point. Its wide user base makes policing for unsolicited interactions an impossible task.
However, the company said that it is working on new technology that, it hopes, will be able to enhance its artificial intelligence-enabled tool to identify and act against accounts responsible for harassment.
The Web-Enabled Simulation (WES) will feature an army of bots trained to replicate human behaviour exhibited by trolls and those with bad online etiquette. These bots will be unleashed in a test environment, and Facebook engineers will use the data collated to design countermeasures to stanch bad behaviour.
