Apple may bring socially distant selfies to iPhone

Social distancing is the order of the day and looks like is here to stay. All those selfies that people take with their friends in a group don’t look like will be a common sight on Instagram and Facebook. However, it appears that Apple may come up with a method to take socially distant selfies.
According to Patently Apple, the Cupertino-based tech giant has been granted a patent that “covers a computing device that can generate a synthetic group selfie.”
The patent further describes, “a synthetic group selfie can be an arrangement or composition of individual selfies obtained from a plurality of computing devices into a single group image…The individual selfie images can be still images, stored video images, or live streaming images.
In other words, a synthetic group selfie can be created with software enhancements and will be a composition of still images, stored video images, or live streaming video images. The device — in this can iPhone or iPad — would then “automatically arrange the individual selfies into the synthetic group selfie.”
