Ad-fraudsters are using bots to fake app installs: Study
New Delhi: Digital ad publishers are faking app downloads using a bot called ‘FaDe’ and simulating app installs in smartphones that are no longer sold, according to a study.
According to an ad-fraud detection firm, mFilterIt, at least six large advertisers are impacted by the fraud while the BOTs would have already wasted around Rs 1 crore each within a 15-day period of the identified advertisers.
The bot is being used to get sophisticated invalid traffic (SIVT), in this case, users for many apps. It fakes a 40% jump in install traffic which would generate revenue for the publisher, the company said.
