Nokia, Openreach deploy next-gen fiber access networks
NEW DELHI: Openreach Thursday said it will deploy telecom gear maker Nokia’s fiber solutions to fulfill its aim of providing ultra-fast and reliable broadband access to 20 million homes across the UK. by the mid-2020s.
“We’re accelerating our full fiber build to deliver an ultrafast, ultra-reliable, and futureproof broadband network throughout the UK,” said Clive Selley, CEO of Openreach, and added that the solution will allow the economy to bounce back from the COVID-19 outbreak.
The fiber rollout will focus on the deployment of Nokia’s GPON and XGS-PON fiber access technologies to expand Openreach’s fiber network across 4.5 million premises by March-end, 2021.
