Unacademy information on sale on the darkweb

MUMBAI: A database of around 22 million users of Unacademy with user records of employees from Reliance IndustriesNSE 4.35 %, TCS, HDFC, SBI, InfosysNSE 1.71 %, Cognizant, Wipro, Accenture, Facebook and Google, among others, was breached and was up for sale on the darkweb, according to US-based security firm Cyble. The ed-tech firm had suffered the breach in January.

According to Cyble, the database including usernames, emails and passwords was up for sale on May 3 for $2,000.

Unacademy confirmed that basic information related to 11 million learners, and not 22 million, had been compromised but said that no sensitive information such as financial data, location or passwords had been leaked.
