Did Facebook expose data of 267 million users?

On Thursday, Facebook said that it is investigation reports of a database leak which contained many names and phone numbers of about 267 million users.

Apparently belonging to a crime group, an online hacker forum made the database available for download last week, according to a blogpost on Comparitech.

“We are looking into this issue, but believe this is likely information obtained before changes we made in the past few years to better protect people’s information,” a Facebook spokesperson told AFP.
