Now, number porting in service area in 3 days

MUMBAI: The telecom sector regulator has come up with a new set of conditions for generating unique porting code (UPC) which entails three working days’ timeline for port out requests within a service area, and five working days for port out from one circle to another.

“Trai has revised the mobile number portability (MNP) process… UPC will be generated only when the subscriber is eligible to port out his mobile number,” Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said in its public notice issued on Tuesday. The revised MNP process will be implemented from December 16.
