US body, COAI, others, question Trai’s attempt to regulate cloud service providers
Mumbai: A US-India business council, a digital rights group, technology companies and a telecom industry body have questioned the telecom regulator’s attempt to regulate cloud service providers (CSPs), with some arguing the authority doesn’t have the jurisdiction to do so while others saying that the likes of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and VMware were already under the watch of the IT ministry.
In its response to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (Trai) consultation paper on cloud services, the US India Business Council (USIBC) said there’s more than sufficient regulation of cloud services in the industry and Indian CSPs should not be subject to new regulation.
