Twitter brings a ‘major’ login security change
Two-factor-authentication or 2FA, a login security feature is something that is being used by almost all of the major social media websites. Twitter introduced the 2FA security layer back in May this year. And the feature always required your phone number for it. Now, Twitter is has fixed it. The microblogging website will now allow you to set up 2FA security even without giving your phone number. So, if you are an avid Twitter user who has 2FA already set up and are still bothered to provide your phone number, it is possible to remove it now.
“We’re also making it easier to secure your account with Two-Factor Authentication. Starting today, you can enroll in 2FA without a phone number,” tweeted the official Twitter Safety account on November 22, 2019 (Friday).
As mentioned by Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter’s product lead, you can remove/unlink your phone number from the ‘Accounts’ section inside the Settings tab.
