If you don’t mind ads, Amazon Music is now free

Amazon.com on Monday stated that it will provide ad-supported free version of its music app for customers who do not have the Prime subscription or a subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited. Earlier, Amazon offered its customers paid plans for its music service starting at $9.99 per month and it is also part of its prime bundle.

The company launched a free version of its music service for Alexa users on Echo devices in September and now it has extended that service to the app, taking on rival Spotify Technology which has nearly 140 million users for its free version.

In its blog post introducing the new free version, Amazon said, “Beginning today, Amazon Music customers who do not yet have a Prime membership, or a subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited, can now listen to an ad-supported selection of top playlists and thousands of stations for free on their favorite devices.
