Reliance Jio adds 8.4 million users in August; Airtel, Vodafone Idea lose: Trai
NEW DELHI: Mukesh Ambani-driven Reliance Jio continued its growth journey in August by adding the highest number of subscribers during the month, while other major telecom operators, Airtel and Vodafone Idea saw their subscriber base erode.
Jio added over 8.4 million subscribers in the month of August thereby witnessing the highest monthly growth rate of 2.49% in comparison to other operators, according to Trai’s August report. Jio’s total subscriber base now stands at 348 million.
Bharti Airtel lost more than 5 lakh subscribers, which dragged its overall subscriber base to 327 million.
Vodafone Idea lost over 4.9 million subscribers, pulling down its total subscriber base to 375 million in August.
