Google starts testing Duplex feature, here’s how it may work
Google showcased its ‘Duplex’ feature wherein the Assistant talks like a ‘human’ and books tables in a restaurant or fix appointments on behalf of you on a phone call. The aim of the feature is to learn your tasks and what you do on the phone and help you achieve it at the same time (with or without voice commands). At the time of the stage demonstration during this year’s Google IO 2019 conference, the feature did sound impressive talking swiftly with a real person on the other end and getting things done. CEO Sundar Pichai also said that more details on the rollout will be revealed later in the year and now there’s an update. Google has started testing ‘Duplex’ for Assistant on the web.
As spotted by Android Police, Google Assistant has started automating the rental car and movie ticket booking process. It has been mentioned that once you select the movie time from the Google Search card, the ‘Buy tickets’ panel that pops up with the ticket vendor list shows a pill-shaped ‘Buy tickets’ button with the Assistant logo.
