YouTube is killing this feature two years after its launch

Two years ago, in August, Google’s video-sharing platform YouTube thought that it will be a might idea if viewers could chat with others on the same website. So, the team launched built-in ‘Messages’ feature. This was done to boost the engagement, share videos and discussions on videos among users. The feature was even introduced for the web platform last year. But now YouTube plans to remove it.
One of the YouTube employees posted the news on one of the support pages. It has been added that the removal will take place starting next month. After September 18 to be precise. “Two years ago, we launched a feature to enable you to share videos via direct messages on YouTube. Since then, we’ve also focused on public conversations with updates to comments, posts, and stories. We’re constantly reevaluating our priorities and have decided to discontinue YouTube’s native direct messaging feature while we focus on improving public conversations,” stated the post.
