Google signs MoU with Telangana govt to bridge digital divide

Technology giant Google and the Government of Telangana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bridge the digital divide in state and further the vision of ‘Digital Telangana’. The effort is aimed at developing more local language content online using Google’s digital publishing tool – Navlekha. It will help in mentoring local startups, and will enable small and medium businesses to gain from the internet technology.
All state government documents will be digitised in Telugu under the latest memorandum. This will make it easier for the common man to access information and services on government sites in local language. Additionally, Google will collaborate with the Telangana government to further its digital literacy vision. The tech firm will also provide technical mentorship and advisory support to various government departments for successful implementation of multiple digital projects.
