Bengaluru woman abused, threatened on WhatsApp group

BENGALURU: A 38-year-old woman, who described herself as a social worker, has filed a police complaint against a man who allegedly abused her on the WhatsApp group that she created to interact with the locals. According to the complainant, the accused threatened to defame her name in the WhatsApp group.
Shreya (name changed), a resident of Nagasandra, approached Peenya police after the accused, Ranadheera Nayaka, started sending abusive audio messages in the 75-member Whataspp group titled `Jai Bhuvaneshwari’.
According to her, Nayak and Shreya were part of another WhatsApp group and got introduced to each other during conversations. Nayak requested Shreya to add him in the group which she created to speak about local issues and said he introduced himself as a film artist. Upon adding, after a few days, frustrated by wishing messages on the group, Nayak started abusing the admin (Shreya) for failing to maintain decorum in the group.
