5G to bring socio-economic transformation in India: DoT

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has said that 5G technology will play a big role in bringing about huge transformation in India, but the government would first need to deal with challenges such as framework for implementation and spectrum pricing.

“Digital Transformation fuelled with 5G, is a massive tool we have in hand, which is a pathway to achieving socio-economic transformation,” Anshu Prakash, additional secretary at DoT, said at an industry conference. While the evolution of 4G into 5G is not something new, vertical markets such as health, transportation, agriculture and more, which will be explored by the emerging 5G technology, which is unique.
