Government gets 6 proposals for 5G trials, including Huawei

KOLKATA: The government has received six proposals for 5G trials, including those from China’s Huawei and ZTE, but Chinese vendor participation would hinge on the recommendations of a panel looking into 5G security issues, telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told Parliament Wednesday.

Prasad told Lok Sabha that the 5G field trials would be undertaken only through licensed telcos “in a restrictive, limited geographical area for specific use cases”.
