India should tap people strength to build its IP: CEO, Western Digital
BENGALURU: India may not see high-tech manufacturing move from China as a fallout of the US-China trade spat as the country lacks an ecosystem of suppliers, the top executive of US data infrastructure and semiconductor company Western Digital has told ET.
But the country will continue to be a hub for designing cutting edge products with local IP as companies tap its talent for their global business, said Stephen Milligan, CEO at Western Digital.
Western Digital is expanding in India, investing $200 million a year, to create a talent pool that designs products for the global market. The company got a presence in India with its acquisition of Sandisk in 2015.
