Cops watch poll speeches, cyber space for inflammatory content
In light of the serial bomb blasts in Sri Lanka on Sunday, the Mumbai Police are watching out for any communally inflammatory content in pre-election speeches by candidates in the run-up to the elections, and on the social media.
According to police sources, instructions have been issued to all police stations to keep any eye on the inflammatory content of the candidates’ speeches. Personnel enforcing security at all speeches and campaign rallies will be monitoring the content of the speeches, with immediate action being taken in case any violations are found.
“In case of any instances where inflammatory content relating to the Sri Lanka attacks is observed, we will book the person concerned under the Representation of the People Act 1951,” Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Manjunath Singe said.
