BSNL launches 4G services in Kancheepuram without 4G spectrum
CHENNAI: BSNL Chennai Telephone on Saturday announced that it was launching 4G services in rural pockets of Kancheepuram district, which is more than 80 kilometres south of the city. Though the state-owned telecom operator has dubbed it as ‘4G services’, the facility would be offered using 3G spectrum as the BSNL has not been allocated 4G spectrum by the department of telecommunication.
A press release here said that the 4G services would be available in Deviriambakkam, Karunguzhi, P V Kalathur, Rajakulam, Govindavadi, Magaral, Pakkam and Pularmbakkam villages. “The 4G services will be expanded to about 200 places in other rural areas like Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Tiruthani and Chengalpet in a month’s time,” the press release by deputy general manager (public relations), BSNL Chennai Telephones said.
