Why Apple took a dig at Google, Facebook at its special event

NEW DELHI: In a rather subtle move just a week before Apple’s “Show Time” event at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino, the company had released an ad about how privacy matters. In more than one way it was a dig at Facebook and Google as both the tech giants have had certain issues with privacy — more so with Facebook than Google. The privacy theme was written all over the latest Apple event as the Cupertino-based tech giant didn’t miss a chance to point out the significance of privacy.

Take the case where the Apple Card was unveiled. While Apple will store information of the user on the device, it categorically said that the information won’t be sold to third-party companies. The company even said that, “Apple doesn’t know where a customer has shopped, what they bought or how much they’ve paid.”
