Movie-watching at home has changed over the years. Two decades ago, video cassettes were in vogue, thencame VCDs and DVDs, only to fade away.
It is now the reign of digital OTT (over-the-top) platforms, which were unheard of a decade ago. They are emerging the top option for watching movies at home or on the go, on mobile phones.
The home video segment, which contributed around 5 per cent to the total revenues of the film industry in 2009, accounted for 0.11 per cent of the total revenue in 2018.

A look at the figures of the Indian film industry shows that the total revenues increased from ₹8,930 crore in 2009 to ₹17,450 crore in 2018.
