Setback to Maran brothers! Plea to quash charges in telephone exchange case rejected

In a setback to the Maran brothers, the Madras High Court on Wednesday rejected the plea by Sun TV promoter Kalanithi Maran and his brother and former Union minister Dayanidhi Maran, to quash the charges framed against them at a trial court, in an illegal telephone exchange case.

Rejecting the appeal, the high court directed the CBI special court to complete trial in four months’ time. It has also ordered that it is open to the trial court to insist upon the presence of the petitioners and remand them to custody, if they adopt any dilatory tactics.
