Google’s one of the most used apps gets a fix for a ‘high severity’ exploit

It’s the season of bugs and fixes. Google’s Project Zero recently revealed an exploit in Apple’ macOS software and temporarily disabled a feature in Android TV because of a different bug.
But now, it has fixed another flaw found by its Project Zero team in one of the most used applications on PCs and Android smartphones – Google Chrome. The team also recommends users on all the platforms to update their Chrome browsers at the earliest as there is evidence of a third-party using the exploit.
The particular exploit includes ‘Use-after-free’ vulnerability in the FileReader API. While the FileReader API give websites access to read local files, the vulnerability lets hackers execute malicious codes in it.
The fix has already been released in the form of Chrome 72.0.3626.121 for Mac, Windows and Linux OS versions. It is also available for Chrome OS and Android users.
