Here’s how Google is ‘assisting’ in making this trend popular in Android phones
Let’s be clear on one thing that just with its Pixel devices, Google would’ve never been able to compete with Apple’s voice assistant Siri. So how does Google make its own voice assistant – Google Assistant – more popular? Simple: piggyback ride on the backs of other smartphone makers. If you take a look at more than handful smartphones launched so far in 2019, they all seem to have one thing in common: a dedicated button for Google Assistant.
In fact, at the Mobile World Congress 2019, Nokia’s two smartphones – Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 – both have dedicated buttons for Google Assistant. It has also been spotted on two LG smartphones as well. However, LG had a dedicated Google Assistant button last year as well in its G7 and V40 smartphones. This year’s LG devices – the G8 ThinQ – also have the same button.
