HMD Global unveils Nokia 9 PureView, world’s first penta-camera smartphone

BARCELONA: The Finnish company HMD Global, which makes Nokia smartphones, unveiled the “Nokia 9 PureView” — the world’s first smartphone with a five-camera array with ZEISS Optics to put next generation computational imaging technology into the hands of photography and technology enthusiasts.

The device was unveiled on Sunday at the ongoing 2019 MWC Barcelona.

With wireless charging and under display fingerprint sensor, “Nokia 9 PureView” produces images in high dynamic range (HDR) where five cameras simultaneously capture the image and fuse it together into one 12 megapixel (MP) photo, the company said in a statement.

The smartphone also features the ability to capture images in uncompressed Raw DNG (digital negative) format and edit them directly on the phone using Adobe Lightroom.
