Facebook is an innovator of privacy. Yes, that’s the funniest joke of 2019 so far and it has been cracked by none other than the CEO of the social media giant. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, has never come across as a funny guy. Zuckerberg, one of the youngest billionaires, in less than two decades has turned Facebook into this unstoppable juggernaut. Yet, his funny side never showed up. That is till yesterday. In an interview with CNBC, Zuckerberg laughably claimed that Facebook is an “innovator of privacy”. In fact, he said, “Thinking about Facebook as an innovator in privacy is certainly not the mainstream view.” Yes, it is not a mainstream view and perhaps Zuckerberg needs a reminder or two or more why that is the case.
