Here’s how Google is helping Indian journalists in covering upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 elections
In light of the rising issues of ‘fake news’ and the role of tech giants in curbing it, Google has announced a new initiative that aims to help Indian journalists in covering the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Google News Initiative has partnered with DataLeads and Internews to introduce “PollCheck: Covering India’s Election” training sessions.
Google News Initiative India, that came into existence last year, will be holding training sessions in 30 cities between February 26 – April 6. This will be hosted across several languages including English, Hindi, Malayalam, Bangla, Kannada, Gujarati, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi.
The initiative will be training Indian journalists on online verification and fact-checking of the news in addition to journalist digital safety and security and how they can use YouTube for elections coverage.
