Ericsson says wins network deal from Vodafone Idea; deploying 5G-ready gear
Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson on Wednesday said that it has won a radio and microwave contract from India’s leading telco, Vodafone Idea, for the network expansion and consolidation in eight circles. Under the control, the vendor is providing its 5G-ready LTE equipment to the telecom operator.
ET first broke the story on November 23 about the new network equipment supply contracts awarded by the telco.
Nokia and Ericsson bagged more circles—nine and eight respectively, compared to Huawei’s seven and ZTE’s five, all of which were shared with another vendor.
Ericsson, however, declined to share the contact value.
