3-day BSNL strike likely to hit 90 lakh customers

Over 15,000 BSNL employees in Karnataka will join the nationwide strike for three days from February 18 seeking implementation of their long-pending demands, including protection of the PSU major from privatisation.

According to sources, over 10 lakh landline users, besides 80 lakh mobile and broadband subscribers, will be affected by the strike in Karnataka.

Talks fail
Union leaders have been holding rallies, processions and gate meetings from February 1 to bring pressure on the BSNL management, following a call given by the All-Unions and Association of BSNL (AUAB). This was after talks with the BSNL Board failed to yield result.
