Apple’s Face ID may let you unlock your car in future

DELHI: Apple may be working on a feature that will allow you to unlock your car with the help of biometric authentication. According to a report by 9to5Mac, with the help of this biometric feature, users may be able to use Face ID to secure their cars.

Rumours have begun circulating based on a patent, called ‘System and Method for Vehicle Authorization’. The patent was published two days back and has detailed a mobile biometric authentication technology that makes use of Face ID.

If this technology becomes a reality, vehicle environment could be customised differently as per the person who is driving. The customisable settings may include personalised music, seating and climate control etc. So, in other words, there may be several user accounts for a single vehicle.
