Big Three make Big Tarrif hikes

In our April issue we had done a story titled, “Tariff – Sibal vs Prasad: Sibal encouraged hikes, while Prasad caps it at 1.3 p/m.” The telecom minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad at that point in time had issued a clear and strong statement that the industry indicated rise in tariffs (of 12 to 15 pc) is a “misplaced notion” and that “a simple back-of-the-hand calculation based on the telecom regulator’s data shows that if at all required, tariffs will not increase beyond 1.3 paise per minute”.
