Personal Data Protection Bill

India’s privacy and data protection debate finally got a draft Bill. Headed by former Supreme Court judge BN Srikrishna, the committee of experts on July 27, 2018 submitted a 176-page report, titled “A Free and Fair Digital Economy: Protecting Privacy, Empowering Indians”, and a 67-page draft Bill, titled “The Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018”. The ministry of electronics & information technology (MeitY) released the Bill for public consultation.
