Hiring activity in Chennai up 17% in April: Naukri Job Speak Index

Chennai: The Naukri Job Speak index for Chennai in April 15’ was at 1,500 as compared to 1,287 in April 14, an increase of 17% in the hiring activity.

Among the key sectors in the city, BPO/ITES showed a 2% dip in the hiring activity whereas telecom registered a 2% growth over the same period.

Banking sector saw an increase of 75% in hiring activity in April 2015 over April 2014. Other sectors like pharma saw a 3% increase in their hiring activity over the same period. However, sectors like construction & engineering and insurance saw a dip of 5% and 23% respectively in the same period.

Hiring of project management, and production & maintenance professionals saw a dip of 12% and 6% respectively in April 2015 over April 2014. However a reverse trend was seen for the HR and finance professionals where the numbers went up by 9% and 8% respectively over the same period.
