80% women in low and middle income countries are mobile owners: Study
NEW DELHI: As many as 80% of women in low-and middle-income countries are now mobile owners where 48% of women use mobile to get online, according to a GSMA study.
However, women remain 10% less likely than men to own a mobile phone in low- and middle-income countries, and 23% less likely than men to use mobile internet, the study said on Wednesday.
The study further found that by closing the gender gaps in mobile ownership by 2023, low- and middle-income countries could gain an estimated additional $140 billion in mobile industry revenue over the next five years.
