6,000 Railway stations to be wi-fi enabled in 2-3 months: Piyush Goyal
NEW DELHI: Railway minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday around 6,000 railway stations will be equipped with Wi-Fi over the next two to three months as part of the government’s plan to connect people in the far-fetched areas of India.
“More than 5,000 stations have Wi-Fi facility. In the next two to three months, 6,500 stations will have Wi-Fi connectivity and with that the economically weak, children and women will be connected with the rest of the world,” Goyal said.
Goyal, who is also the trade and commerce minister, said the national transporter is installing CCTV cameras at railway stations to create a safe environment for passengers.
