6 arrested, fake call centre busted by Chandigarh Police
The Chandigarh Police has busted a racket of a fake call centre running in Zirakpur.
Six persons have been arrested from the tricity for insurance fraud targeting the senior citizens. During investigation, Rs 4 lakh cash and 30 mobile phones along with SIM cards of different service providers and 10 registers have been recovered from the accused, said a police spokesperson.
The investigation began by the cyber crime investigation cell, UT Police on two separate complaints by city residents. In the first complaint, Nirmal Singh, a resident of Sector 44 stated that he had received a phone call in June 2020 regarding insurance policy. The caller discussed his old insurance policy and informed that Rs 25,000,00 of his insurance policy are balance at their end and if he wants to claim the same amount, he needs to deposit documents fee etc.
