5G spectrum auctions in April-May 2022, govt clean on Pegasus: Vaishnaw

NEW DELHI: The government expects to auction spectrum supporting 5G technology by May next year, and said that recently announced reforms would transform the sector, telecom, IT and railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday. He defended the government on the Pegasus snooping controversy, saying that the government has stayed well within the law, has nothing to hide and would fully cooperate with the committee set up by the Supreme Court to probe the issue.

Speaking at the Times Now Summit 2021, Vaishnaw said that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) had begun consultations on the pricing of airwaves.
