5G rollout in India will take another 3-4 years: Unlimit’s CEO

NEW DELHI: While initial rollout of 5G has already started happening across some countries in Europe and US, a realistic estimate for 5G rollout in India suggests another 3 to 4 years, according to Juergen Hase, CEO of Unlimit, a Reliance Group company.

“If you see where we are in India, we’ve just done mass rollout of 4G but we have to prepare 5G. We are in an early stage but we can learn from others and do better. Therefore, realistically, 5G will take another 3 to 4 years to rollout in the country,” Hased told ETTelecom in an interaction.

“The first implementation will be easy, however, I believe we have to think about security from the beginning because we’ll be connecting billions of devices via 5G. With 5G, we also have to manage many expectations,” he added.
