5G download speeds in India reach 500Mbps on test networks: Ookla

NEW DELHI: 5G download speeds in India have reached 500Mbps on the test networks, with Jio leading with a speed of 598.58Mbps compared to rival Airtel’s 197.98Mbps in the national capital, according to the latest data by internet testing firm Ookla.

Ookla’s analysis showed that telecom operators have been testing their networks before the October 1 launch, and 5G download speeds range from 16.27Mbps to 809.94Mbps, which indicates that telcos are still recalibrating their networks.
