5% rise in non-tech white-collar jobs in June, no respite for IT sector

The white-collar jobs market showed signs of revival in June as the demand for talent rose by 5 per cent (compared to the last month) for the first time in the current fiscal, The Economic Times (ET) has reported. The uptick was led by a rise in hiring activity in non-tech sectors as economic indicators showed positive signs.

While the core sector showed positive sentiment, hiring in the country’s IT services sector continued to be abysmal and fell to its lowest level since December 2020, the report said. The reason behind the slowdown in hiring by IT firms is believed to be the cost-cutting measures undertaken by their customers in big markets like the US and Europe.
