3GPP, Apple eye 6G as ITU releases standards development framework

NEW DELHI: Telecom and technology companies have pressed into action to address the 6G technology close on the heels of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) releasing a framework for the development of standards and radio interface technologies for the sixth-generation of mobile systems.

“ITU’s Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) will now focus on defining technical requirements, the submission process, and the evaluation criteria for potential 6G radio interface technologies,” the UN telecoms agency said in a statement recently.
